Handsome fold-out wall-size color lithographed 1936 map of the Pacific Ocean, with 73 insets of islands and island groups, printed more than 82 years ago.This map opens to a generous 80.2 x 99 cm [31½" x 39"] and is drawn on a scale of 1:35,000,000.
It shows highways, railroads, airways, principal steamship routes (with distances in nautical miles), and natural features.
It is surrounded by 73 smaller maps, on various scales, of islands, island groups, and cities, including Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti, Papeete, New Caledonia, Noumea, New Hebrides, Western Samoa, Easter Island, Nauru, Marianas, Bismarck Archipelago, Yap, Tarawa, Tinian, Saipan, Solomon Islands, Guam, Wake, Pitcairn, Gilbert and Ellice, Pago Pago, Hawaiian Islands, Pearl Harbor, Suva, Rarotonga, the Aleutian Islands, and many more.
This map was published by the National Geographic Society in December 1936 and is dated in the legend.

It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with
no
